Pandora from Saint Seiya

This cosplay armor was created using Expanded PVC board, I used Sintra this go round. I used a 3MM board, and in most of the armor I doubled up the main template sheet, as well as another sheet which was sanded down into the main piece to give the beveled appearance.

After the template pieces were cut out, and trimmed to fit each other, I slightly dremeled the edges to give it a slightly smoother appearance. After the edges were ground into each other I heated up each piece for molding. I did use an oven for this, rather than a heat gun.

Once molding was complete, which took several attempts on each item, they were sanded down and smoothed out using several grades of sandpaper. After sanding was complete they were good for primer, more sanding, wetsanding and finally paint... and then more sanding - and finally clearcoat.

I hope you like! Keep an eye out for my Sintra tutorial which I'll be posting up soon!

Hey! Thank you for your sintra tutorials - it is nice to learn about new cosplay materials that are effective, and to learn how to use them properly.

I am currently working on a deedlet breastplate armor that has a delicate "swirl design" on the front. For my first attempt, I am trying out EVA foam, which I have never worked with before. I have been stuck on deciding what material to use for the "swirl" though, since I want it to have a "rounded look". I was thinking clay perhaps...but I don't know what kind of clay would be hard enough to stick to EVA and not split with movement.

I noticed that in this tutorial the top right picture has a "swirl" design. May I ask - what did you ust to make that, and do you think it will work on EVA as well?

Thank you so much :D

I haven't worked with Eva before, but I'm sure there is a lot of info about it.

As for the armor, it is all sintra. That piece I decorated with thin strips of sintra.

Thank you!

Hey, thank you so much for your advice and your willingness to share "trade secrets". I called up some local sign shops and one of them donated a HUGE piece of Sintra for free - it reaches my ceiling, and is about 2.5 ft wide. Ya hoo! I am going to try this out for my Deedlit armor and can't wait to see the results :)

I am so glad you found it helpful. My methods aren't always the best, but they have worked for me, so I want to share with those who are interested.
